It may be they learned this from the Norse who populated many of the Isles. The Norse pirates still troubled the isles in the mid 12th century and Somerled did much to send them running.Regan Walkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02977297105533227463noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2919901163879178227.post-48915745839613652692021-01-01T00:46:17.712-08:002021-01-01T00:46:17.712-08:00Yes I am told it is hard to read on a phone. Yes there is an article on this blog about quivers. However, it seems the best evidence is that they were carried in their hand or thrust through a belt. Thanks for your kind words, and for the interesting information. That is a good fast arrow at 174fps. Looks like there is lots of good stuff coming out of the warbow resurgence. I'm not sure if there was something wrong with his chronograph but the numbers put up are superbly bad. English longbows typically shoot faster than 150 fps at 10 gpp because of the long draw. Tests done with Simon Stanley using a 150 lb bow reveal that a 1480 grain arrow (9.86 gpp) was shot at 174 fps. These bows suffer with lighter arrows but the bow also shot a 827 grain arrow (5.51 gpp) at ~210 fps. Great article, Thanks!
